Hyderabad: All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Karwan MLA, Kausar Mohiuddin, has urged Telangana’s Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan to release ₹50 lakh for the renovation of the centuries-old Masjid-e-Shaik located in Shaikpet. The mosque, dating back to the Qutub Shahi era, is reportedly in a dilapidated state and in urgent need of repairs, reported the Siasat.
During his meeting, the MLA also drew attention to the Eidgah near the Seven Tombs, highlighting the need for new flooring and general upkeep.
Apart from religious sites, Mohiuddin raised civic concerns with GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan and Zonal Commissioner Anurag Jayanti regarding five stormwater drainage works that remain pending in the Karwan Assembly constituency.
He later met with Waqf Board officials to discuss a range of issues, including the formation of a committee for the LangarHouz Dargah, land protection at the Imampura graveyard, and a request to conduct a survey at the dargah in Kanchi Basti.
The MLA emphasized that the upkeep of religious and historical sites is essential to preserving Hyderabad’s cultural heritage.
