Kazakhstan has achieved a major medical breakthrough by performing its first robot-assisted heart surgery, setting a new benchmark for the country and the Central Asian region. The landmark procedure was carried out on Nov. 13 at the Medical Centre Hospital of the President’s Affairs Administration (MCUDP) in Astana.
Cardiac surgeons from MCUDP conducted the operation in partnership with a team of specialists from China, as part of an international scientific and practical conference, according to the hospital’s press service.
Using a minimally invasive technique and an advanced robotic surgical system, the medical team successfully completed the operation. The patient is reported to be in stable condition.
The conference also covered a wide range of topics, including cardiology, oncology, nuclear medicine, neurosurgery, digital healthcare, and pharmaceutical regulation. The knowledge-sharing programme featured joint consultations with experts from Russia and Japan.
Serving as a significant platform for collaboration and innovation, the event highlighted emerging medical and educational technologies. Around 4,000 participants joined both online and offline, with live broadcasts drawing more than 4,000 views.
