Kolkata, Feb. 25: While BJP is criticizing the Mamata government on the issue of Sandeshkhali, the saffron party is also facing the anger of people for calling a Sikh police officer ‘Khalistani’.
In the wake of the Sandeshkhali incident, the Youth Khalsa Club of Padmapukur Road lodged an FIR at Bhavanipur police station against BJP leaders for calling IPS officer Jaspreet Singh ‘Khalistani’. However, the chargesheet does not specify the name of any BJP leader.
It was alleged that the comment was made to spread hatred. This comment is racist and amounts to communal incitement. “We strongly condemn this attempt to spread violence and break the law by hurting religious identities and beliefs.”
However, Suvendu Adhikari denied making such comments.
The BJP delegation tried to enter Sandeshkhali last Tuesday. There, Suvendu Adhikari was stopped at Dhamakhali. He and his fellow BJP leaders entered Sandeshkhali on the orders of the court. BJP leadership clashed with police at Dhamakhali intersection. It was there that an on-duty IPS Jaspreet Singh was called ‘Khalistani’. The officer protested there.
