King Abdullah II Meets Trump Amid Gaza Displacement Tensions

Washington: Jordan’s King Abdullah II became the first Arab leader to meet U.S. President Donald Trump since his second term began in January. Their discussion focused on the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, an issue escalating due to ongoing Israeli attacks.

Trump has pressed Jordan to accept displaced Palestinians, proposing a controversial plan to relocate them to Jordan or Egypt permanently. Critics call this ethnic cleansing. Trump insisted, “We’re going to take it. We’re going to hold it. We’re going to cherish it,” while promising economic development in Gaza.

Abdullah avoided confrontation but reaffirmed Jordan’s opposition to forced displacement. He stated that Arab nations, led by Egypt, are working on an alternative solution. “We stand firmly against the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank,” he declared.
