Bengaluru: The Board of Islamic Education (BIE), Karnataka, organised a Felicitation and Prize Distribution Ceremony along with the release of its new book, Deen-e-Islam, bringing together community leaders, educators, parents and students to highlight the importance of combining academic excellence with Islamic values and character building.
Presiding over the programme, Dr. Mohammed Saad Belgami, State President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, stressed the central role of knowledge in shaping individuals and societies. Quoting the Qur’anic principle that those who possess knowledge are not equal to those who do not, he said communities that give priority to learning earn the ability to guide others.
Dr. Belgami urged parents to ensure that children receive religious and moral education alongside secular studies. He said academic success alone is insufficient unless it is supported by strong values and ethical conduct. During the programme, he also released Deen-e-Islam, a publication brought out by the Board of Islamic Education to strengthen Islamic learning among students.
Addressing the gathering, Syed Tanveer Ahmed, National Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, highlighted the responsibility of parents in nurturing children’s character. He observed that while many parents provide material comforts and educational opportunities, they often overlook moral and personality development. He described this as a serious concern and appreciated the Board of Islamic Education for working to shape young minds through value-based education.
He said initiatives that combine Islamic teachings with personal development prepare children to become responsible members of society. He added that such efforts contribute to building a stronger future for the community.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Hafiz Syed Zubair Ahmed Umari, a member of the BIE State Executive Committee.
BIE Chairman Maulana Abdul Gaffar Hamid Umari and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Bengaluru Metro Nazime Shehar Prof. Sheikh Haroon Safdar also addressed the gathering. Both speakers underlined the importance of strengthening Islamic education and encouraging students to pursue excellence in both religious and worldly knowledge.
BIE State Secretary Riyaz Ahmed Ron delivered the introductory address and outlined the objectives of the programme. Maulana Aamir Hussain Umari introduced the newly released book and explained its educational purpose. S. M. Sadaat welcomed the participants, Asadullah Aamir conducted the proceedings, and Maulana Mubarak Umari proposed the vote of thanks.
The event concluded with the felicitation of Bengaluru-level rank holder students in recognition of their academic achievements, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence while remaining firmly rooted in Islamic values.
