MARGAO, Goa, Nov. 26: Konkani Shanti Publications, Goa organised a multilingual kavi sammelan here Saturday.
“The kavi sammelan is an effort to provide a platform to poets to present their views on social issues, express their emotions, life experiences to reform the society for better living of each life on earth,” said Mr. Abdul Rahman Khan in his inaugural address.
Various poets across the state gathered to present their poems in Hindi, Urdu, English, Marathi and Konkani on topics such as freedom struggle, suicide, alcohol, national integrity, fraternity, peace, humanity, violence against women, rights of parents, etc.
Anthony Vaz, Udhav Pole, Motilal Pednekar, Nutan Dabholkar, Nazmeen Khan, Soniya Shah, Maulana Fahad, Asif Hussain, Subhash Shah, Khedekar Sureka, Halima Shaikh, Sheela Kakodkar, Prasad Sawant, Zoya Khan Pathan, and Poornima Dessai presented their poems.
Salma Makandar presented Hamd and the program was convened by Nazrana Darvesh.
The program concluded with the address by Mr. Asif Hussain, Zonal President Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Goa, with a message of how poets can and should utilise God’s gift of poetry beneficially.
