Let Ulama Come Together to Play a Leading Role in Construction of Islamic Society: Majlis Ulama Delhi

New Delhi, Feb. 20: A significant gathering focusing on the pivotal role of Ulama in shaping Islamic society took place at the Community Education Center Kanchan Kunj, Madanpur Khadar here on Sunday. Chaired by Mufti Sohail Ahmad Qasmi, President of Majlis Ulama Delhi, the event saw the active participation of Ulama and Imams of Masjids.

The proceedings commenced with recitation of the Holy Quran by Maulana Muhammad Khurshid Qasmi.

The Majlis Ulama Delhi President underscored the leadership role of Ulama in social reform efforts, emphasizing unity and the need to avoid innovations and wasteful rituals. “We together can do the social reform work, which is the need of the hour, while keeping our Maslak (sectorial) identities intact,” he said.

In his opening remarks, Mufti Muhammad Ahmadullah Qasmi, Assistant President of Majlis Ulama, Delhi, emphasized the importance of unity and mutual respect among scholars beyond religious differences. He underscored the significance of carrying out the duties systematically, fostering cordial relationships with large segments of the masses.

The discussion focused on the “Role of Ulama in the Construction of Islamic Society,” where numerous Ulama and Imams of Masjids shared their insights.

Maulana Muhammad Shahabuddin, Imam and Khatib of Bilal Masjid Kanchan Kunj recited Surah Asr, highlighting the responsibilities of scholars in societal development.

Maulana Muhammad Rashid Qasmi, Patron Jamia Al-Abrar al-Islamia, Khadar, emphasized the pivotal role of scholars’ faith, character, and morals in societal advancement.

Maulana Mutahhar Hayat Nadvi stressed the importance of aligning actions with Islamic principles, while Maulana Muhammad Tariq Nadvi warned against the dangers of dividing sciences in the name of religion and worldly affairs.

Dr. Anees Ahmed Falahi urged scholars to prepare the Ummah for their Islamic responsibilities based on the Quran and Sunnah, advocating for Islamic brotherhood and proactive engagement in promoting it.

The event concluded with words of gratitude from Maulana Muhammad Salim, Secretary Majlis Ulama, Kanchan Kunj, and reciprocation by Qari Abdul Manan, Assistant President Majlis Ulama Delhi.

Dr. Anees Ahmed Falahi efficiently compered the proceedings of the program, which witnessed participation from 30 Ulama and Imams of mosques.
