Little Hearts, Big Faith: CIO Iftar in Chandrayangutta

By Vaseemunnisa

Hyderabad: The narrow lanes of Chandrayangutta in the Old City usually hum with the hustle and bustle of daily life. But on a recent evening, the air was filled with a different kind of energy, one of discipline, melody, and youthful devotion.

Under the banner of the Children’s Islamic Organisation (CIO) and supported by the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Telangana Women’s Wing, nearly 80 students gathered for a special Iftar celebration that proved age is no bar when it comes to spiritual dedication.

The evening didn’t just start with a meal; it began with a showcase of talent. The programme opened with a soulful Tilawat (Qur’anic recitation). Soon, the stage was taken over by little speakers who delivered moving speeches on the values of Ramadan. From the rhythmic chanting of Nazms to the powerful echoes of Taranas (anthems), the children demonstrated that they understood the essence of the holy month far beyond just staying away from food.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the gathering, a hush fell over the room. The sight was truly heart-tugging: dozens of children sitting together, hands raised in Dua (supplication), praying not just for themselves, but for peace and well-being across the world.

When the clock struck the hour of Iftar, the simplicity of the feast – traditional dates, fresh fruits, and snacks – was overshadowed by the immense sense of brotherhood and joy shared across the tables.

The event was guided by Sayyidabaaji and supervised by Maavin Nazima. Addressing the young crowd, Sayyidabaaji reminded the elders present that these children are the “foundation of tomorrow’s society.” She emphasised that planting the seeds of morality and kindness today will help them grow into the leaders of the future.

As the evening concluded, the bright smiles on the faces of the young participants were a testament to the success of the event. For these children, Ramadan is not just a month of fasting, but a time of learning, sharing, and growing together.
