Ludhiana: Muslim leaders in the city issued a strong public condemnation of the recent terrorist attack near the Red Fort in Delhi. The national president of Jamaat Majlis Ahrar Islam Hind and Punjab’s Shahi Imam, Maulana Muhammad Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi, led a protest in Field Ganj after Friday prayers. Demonstrators burned an effigy to signal their opposition to terrorism. Maulana Ludhianvi said the attack was shameful and described the perpetrators as traitors to the nation and to Islam.
He said terrorist groups were harming innocent people while using Muslim names. He said Islam forbids attacks on unarmed civilians in every situation. He said those who fire bombs or bullets at the public violate the values of the faith. He said these acts reveal a conspiracy against India and Islam. He stressed that terrorism has no religion. He said individuals arrested for terror cases across India come from different backgrounds.
He urged people to act with restraint on social media. He said spreading hate against any community after an attack damages unity. He asked the central government to respond with swift action against those involved in terror activities to send a message to those he called traitors.
Maulana Ludhianvi comes from a family linked with the freedom struggle. His organisation opposed Pakistan during Partition and worked against groups it called traitors. He appealed to Muslims across the country to speak against terrorism and raise awareness of those who try to link Islam with violence.
