Madhya Pradesh Grocer Accused of Ignoring Dying Muslim Man, Video Sparks Outrage

Agar Malwa: A shocking video from Susner town in Madhya Pradesh has sparked nationwide outrage after showing a Muslim man dying inside a grocery shop while the shopkeeper stood indifferent. The victim, identified as Rafiq, reportedly entered the store in distress and collapsed on the floor, gasping for help.

Footage circulating on social media shows the shopkeeper, named Salgram Rathore, calmly counting money and checking his phone as Rafiq writhed in pain nearby. Witnesses said no immediate effort was made to help the dying man. Within moments, Rafiq succumbed, while bystanders recorded the incident instead of intervening.

The video has ignited anger, particularly among Muslims, who allege that communal prejudice played a role in Rathore’s refusal to assist. Social media users have called for legal action and questioned the moral decay reflected in such apathy. Community leaders have demanded an impartial probe to determine whether religious bias contributed to the neglect.

Legal experts have also highlighted the absence of strong “Good Samaritan” enforcement in India, which protects and encourages bystanders to help those in medical emergencies. Civic groups have urged authorities to investigate the case under laws relating to deliberate negligence and communal discrimination.

The incident has reignited discussions about empathy and accountability in an increasingly polarized society.
