Madhya Pradesh High Court Criticizes Police Over FIR Against Minister Vijay Shah, Vows to Monitor Probe

Bhopal— The Madhya Pradesh High Court has come down heavily on the State police for failing to include crucial details in the FIR filed against Cabinet Minister Vijay Shah over his inflammatory comments targeting Colonel Sofia Qureshi. The court had taken suo motu cognisance of the matter on May 14 after Shah’s controversial speech went viral, reported the Hindu.
A Division Bench comprising Justices Atul Sreedharan and Anuradha Malik questioned the omission of the Minister’s May 12 speech from the FIR, despite it being the trigger for public outrage. The Bench has now decided to closely monitor the police investigation to ensure transparency and accountability.
Vijay Shah, who has since issued a public apology, continues to face sharp criticism from opposition parties, who are demanding his removal from the Cabinet. The controversy has intensified political tensions in the State, with calls growing louder for the ruling BJP to take decisive action.
