Maharashtra Coaching Centres Act 2026: HET and MTB Submit Proposals to Education Department

Pune: The Holistic Education Trust (HET) and the Markazi Talimi Board Maharashtra (MTB) have formally submitted their written proposals and recommendations to the education authorities regarding the draft Maharashtra Private Coaching Centres Registration and Regulation Act 2026.

Shahid Sabir Sheikh, JIH President Pune Camp, met Professor Dr. Shriram Panzade, Joint Director, Directorate of Education, Secondary and Higher Secondary, Maharashtra State, Pune, at his office on September 4, 2026. During the meeting, a formal document containing the written proposals, recommendations and suggestions prepared by HET and MTB on the draft legislation was officially handed over.

The primary objective of this initiative is to ensure that the proposed law strikes a proper balance between the educational and fundamental rights of students, the interests of parents, the legitimate needs of coaching institutions, and the overall management of education.

Both organisations studied the draft legislation in detail and prepared their recommendations on various aspects so that the proposed law remains practical, balanced and beneficial for students and parents.

During the meeting, the importance of having an effective system for the supervision and registration of coaching centres was highlighted. It was also stressed that the legitimate interests of students, parents, teachers and coaching institutions must be protected in this process. The need for regulations that improve educational standards while providing clear, transparent and workable guidelines for coaching centres was emphasised. Attention was also drawn to the need for proper procedures to avoid administrative complications during implementation.

HET and MTB expressed hope that the education department and the relevant authorities would give the received proposals and recommendations serious, positive and sympathetic consideration while finalising the law.

Education circles note that the private coaching sector serves the educational needs of a large number of students. Any legislation for this sector must give special importance to educational standards, student welfare, parental interests, transparency and practical implementation. The submission of proposals by HET and MTB to the education department is being viewed as a positive and important development in this regard.

The two organisations expressed confidence that through mutual consultation and constructive proposals, a framework can be developed that makes Maharashtra’s education system more organised, transparent and student-friendly.
