New Delhi – Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani has expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), welcoming recent remarks by its chief, Mohan Bhagwat, on sensitive religious issues.
Speaking to ANI, Madani recalled that the Jamiat had earlier passed a resolution advocating for dialogue with the Sangh. “There are differences, but we need to reduce them. Hence, we are in favour of efforts made for exchange of dialogue,” he stated.
His comments came in response to Bhagwat’s remarks on the ongoing Kashi and Mathura disputes. Bhagwat had said that while the Sangh fully supported the Ram Mandir movement, its members were free to support campaigns for Kashi and Mathura as well. He also spoke about the presence of Islam in India, demographic balance, and raised concerns over conversion and migration.
Madani, while welcoming the call for dialogue, also condemned the use of inappropriate language in political discourse by both opposition leaders and state officials.
Notably, a few days earlier, Jamiat leader Arshad Madani had also expressed openness to meet Bhagwat and praised his statements.
