Majeed Foundation and Akshaya Patra Foundation (APF) have joined hands to give scholarships to around 130 students from government and aided schools. The scholarship supports 75 students passing 11th and 12th standard and 56 students of bachelor degrees. It covers their full academic fee and enabling them to pursue higher education without financial constraints.
APF aims to extend its mission beyond the mid-day meals scheme being carried out in government institutions for years.
APF is a non-profit organisation headquartered in Bengaluru. It strives to eliminate classroom hunger by implementing the PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal) Programme. It provides nutritious meals to children studying in government schools and government-aided schools. Akshaya Patra also aims to counter malnutrition and support the Right to Education of children hailing from socio-economically challenging backgrounds.
Majeed Foundation also endeavors to support and educate children of poor and deprived class. Founded in the memory of Dr. Muhammad Majeed, founder and chairman of Sami-Sabinsa Group Ltd, who breathed his last in March this year. The Foundation functions under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) also works for feeding elderly people, research on new medicinal plants, national and international disaster reliefs and other incidental activities.
