Malaysian Islamic Organisations Condemn Trump’s Remarks on Gaza

Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM), along with all Malaysian Islamic organisations, has strongly condemned former U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement about “taking over” Gaza under a so-called redevelopment plan.

MAPIM President Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid called Trump’s remarks “outrageous and imperialistic,” stating they violate Palestinian sovereignty, international law, and fundamental human rights. He warned that such a move reflects colonial ambitions and aims to tighten foreign control over Palestinian land, resources, and governance.

MAPIM rejected any foreign attempt to “own” Gaza, describing it as a form of modern-day occupation under the pretence of redevelopment. The organisation criticised the U.S. for proposing control over Gaza while ignoring Israel’s ongoing siege, war crimes, and human rights violations.

MAPIM called for an immediate and categorical rejection of any foreign takeover of Gaza, emphasising that only the Palestinian people have the right to determine their future. It urged the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to intervene and prevent external control over the Palestinian land. The MAPIM also demanded that the Malaysian government take a firm diplomatic stance against such plans and push for global accountability for Israel’s war crimes in Gaza.

MAPIM emphasised that Trump’s statement signals dangerous imperialist ambitions and urged global leaders to prevent any such actions. “Gaza is not a prize to be claimed, nor a colony to be governed by foreign powers,” the statement read.

The MAPIM reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with Palestine and vowed to resist all forms of occupation and colonisation.
