Mamata Banerjee holds an all-faith rally

Kolkata, Jan. 22: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took out a national unity rally here Monday with the message of unity and brotherhood. Before the rally, she offered prayers at the city’s Kalighat temple.

Mamata Banerjee led an all-faith unity rally from Hazra More to Park Circus Maidan, stopping at mosques, churches, and gurdwaras. The rally ended in a massive assembly in Park Circus Maidan.

After temples, gurudwaras and churches, she visited mosques and handed over a chadar from outside the premises of a mosque in Park Circus.

Without naming the Congress, she suggested that the party should fight in the state where the party is strong. She complained that CPI-M hasn’t built a madrasa or graveyard in 34 years.

Chief Minister visited the Gurudwara along with representatives of the Sikh community and talked to Sikh representatives who had visited the Gurudwara for ‘Prakash Purab’ of Sri Guru Gobind Singhji a few days ago. She then announced that state government employees belonging to the Sikh community would get a holiday on Prakash Purab.

Kolkata witnessed a sort of solidarity around Banerjee’s march as she gave a message of peace, friendship and unity to the people of Bengal.
