Noida, Uttar Pradesh, March 21: In a disturbing incident that unfolded here Tuesday, a man involved in collecting donations for a local mosque became the target of a violent attack. The unsettling episode transpired in Salarpur village, within the jurisdiction of the Sector 39 police station, at approximately 12:20 pm.
Abdul Aziz, a native of Bihar’s Kishanganj, found himself subjected to the assault, reportedly perpetrated by a resident of the locality identified as Neeraj Bhatti. Swiftly responding to the distress call, local authorities hurried to the scene in an effort to restore calm amidst the chaos.
According to the statement provided by DCP (Noida) Vidya Sagar Mishra, “A 35-year-old man, who had come to Salarpur from Bihar to collect donations, was assaulted by a 45-year-old local resident in the afternoon. The accused also made objectionable remarks towards the victim.”
The police promptly acted upon the complaint lodged by the victim, resulting in the apprehension of the accused. Mishra further added, “On the basis of a complaint from the victim, the accused has been taken into custody and an FIR is being lodged in the case. Further inquiry into the case is underway.”
Eyewitnesses to the harrowing ordeal recounted how the accused, seemingly under the influence of alcohol, aggressively seized the victim by his beard, prompting intervention from bystanders, some of whom promptly alerted the authorities.
In a bid to address the escalating tension, DCP Mishra, alongside Additional DCP Manish Mishra and ACP-1 Praveen Singh, swiftly arrived at the scene. Their presence helped to restore order and disperse the gathering crowd, especially as video clips depicting the distressing incident began to circulate on social media platforms.
Assurances have been provided by the authorities regarding the ongoing legal proceedings in the matter, underscoring their commitment to ensuring justice prevails and that such reprehensible acts are met with the full force of the law.
