MANUU Campaign Ends With Call to Tackle Rising Digital Violence Against Women

Hyderabad: The 16 Days of Activism to End Gender Based Violence campaign ended at Maulana Azad National Urdu University with a clear message on the need to address rising online threats faced by women. Speakers urged students, teachers and institutions to build stronger awareness and early response systems. The event focused on the theme Unite to End Digital Violence against all Women and Girls.

Retired Judge K. B. Nawaz Khan said there is no place for violence against women in any society. He called awareness programmes an important step toward safer communities. He stressed the role of education in helping women identify threats and stay secure on digital platforms.

Tejaswini Madabhushi, CEO of Yugantar, delivered the keynote address. She explained the forms of harassment faced by women and the steps needed to prevent abuse. She said digital spaces expose women to new risks that demand constant alertness. She asked institutions to support women with guidance and tools to handle threats.

Registrar Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed presided over the programme. He said more universities and colleges must join outreach and education drives. He added that awareness helps women respond early when they notice suspicious behaviour online.

The Department of Women Education, Internal Complaints Committee and Centre for Women’s Studies organised the campaign with support from the Cultural Activity Centre. The activities included sessions on harassment, safety practices and reporting processes. Dr. Shabana Kesar outlined the achievements of the campaign during the concluding session.
