MANUU Organises Urdu Teachers’ Training Workshop in Kerala

Kannur: The Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), through its Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Teachers, recently held a training workshop for Urdu teachers in Kannur, Kerala. The programme focused on “Students’ Involvement” and attracted more than 150 teachers from across the district.

The workshop aimed to equip teachers with modern teaching methods that encourage student-centered learning. It emphasized moving away from traditional approaches and adopting techniques that promote creativity, critical thinking, and active participation in classrooms.

The inaugural session was addressed by several officials, including District Project Officer Rajesh Kodanapalli, District Additional Education Officer Ibrahim Master, Kerala Urdu Teachers Association General Secretary Salam Malaya, and District Secretary Sharfuddin Master. They stressed the need for updated pedagogical skills that keep pace with changing educational demands.

Dr. T. Samad highlighted that effective learning requires active student involvement. He encouraged teachers to move beyond rigid syllabi and focus on creativity, analytical skills, and independent learning. Prof. Sami Siddiqi led interactive sessions where teachers engaged in practical exercises and explored digital tools for more engaging lessons.

Participants noted that the sessions gave them new perspectives and practical skills to apply in their classrooms. The event also sparked discussions on challenges faced by Urdu teachers in Kerala and possible solutions through collaboration and continuous training.

At the end of the workshop, certificates were distributed to all participants. Teachers expressed appreciation for the initiative and called for similar programmes to be held regularly.
