Mashal: GIO Hyderabad to Host 3-Day Fest

Hyderabad: The Girls’ Islamic Organisation (GIO), Hyderabad City, held a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club to announce Mashal, a three-day fest and conference scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 1, 2024, at Nampally Exhibition Grounds here.

Addressing the media, Dr. Asfia Anam, City President of GIO Hyderabad, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to empowering young women and fostering a sense of purpose grounded in Islamic values. She was joined by Khadija Mehveen, State Secretary of JIH Women’s Wing, and City Secretaries Asma Zarzari and Nasreen. Other speakers included Nuha Gulam, Campus Secretary of GIO Telangana, and Uzma Begum, ZAC Member of GIO Telangana.

Dr. Asfia highlighted the objectives of the event, stating, “Mashal aims to counter the growing influence of Western culture on the younger generation, instill the thought of the Hereafter, and channel their talents in the service of Allah.”

The three-day fest will include a variety of activities designed to inspire, educate, and engage young women. The pre-fest event, Talento’24, a 15-day competition showcasing the skills and talents of participants, has already generated significant enthusiasm.

Awards ceremony for Talento’24, recognising outstanding achievements to inspire young women.

Dr. Asfia reiterated the core mission of GIO as outlined in its constitution: “To prepare female students and young women for the reconstruction of society in the light of Divine Guidance.”

She further added that the organisation strives to promote a better academic and moral atmosphere in educational institutions, develop the skills of its members, and transform them into valuable contributors to the Islamic movement.

The Mashal conference is expected to attract a large audience of young girls and women from across Hyderabad.
