Chamarajanagar, Sep 4: Chamarajanagar is a town in the southern part of Karnataka. Named after Chamaraja Wodeyar IX, the erstwhile Raja of Mysore, as he was born there, previously known as ‘Arikottara’. Having many pristine forests, Chamarajanagar is also home to several tribal communities including Betta Kurubas. The town has many temples, 2 Jain Basadis, and 2 Buddha Viharas and a few mosques.
It has a treasure of black granite stones beneath its soil. Since a lot of the southern area of the district is dense forest, it had provided a good refuge to the notorious bandit Veerappan.
What is new at this point of time? The tiny Muslim community has planned to invite the fellow countrymen to visit the masjid. A spacious Madina Masjid close to bus station is the venue, jointly organised by the Masjid committee and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Chamarajanagar. The following dignitaries of the district are invited to participate in the “Public Masjid Darshan” program. They were invited as guests and their consent was obtained.
Mr. Sunil Bose, Chamarajanagar MP; MLA Shri Puttarangashetty, Gundlupet MLA Shri Ganesh Prasad, District Collector Smt. Shilpana, District Superintendent of Police Smt. Poetry, Dy SP Mr. Lakshmaiah V and District Joint Director of Agriculture Mr. Syed Abid and Tahsildar Mrs. Girija are likely to participate in the program.
Among the religious heads, Swamiji Sri Sri Sarpabhushan Mahaswamy of Sri Channa Basaveshwara Math Harave, the Principal Pastor of Saint Paul’s Church Fr Antonappa, Sri Ramakrishna Bharadwaj, Chief Priest of Chamarajeshwara Temple have also been invited.
The programme is scheduled on September 16, and a lot of fervour is seen among the hosts who have launched a door-to-door campaign.
