Jaipur, August 10, 2024: In a powerful display of solidarity with the Palestinian people, a large protest was held at the Shaheed Smarak near the Government Hostel here Friday. The protest, organized by the Daman Pratirodh Andolan Rajasthan (Dalit, Tribal, Minority, and Women), drew participants from all walks of life, united in their opposition to the ongoing genocide in Palestine and American imperialism.
Hundreds gathered at the memorial, chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian cause and condemning the U.S. for its support of Israel. The protest was followed by a public meeting where various speakers voiced their concerns and demands.
Key figures such as Dr. Sanjay Madhav, District Secretary of CPM; Sawai Singh of the Samagra Seva Sangh; Mohammed Nazimuddin of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Rajasthan; Dr. Vishal Vikram from Rajasthan University; Sunita Chaturvedi from AIPSO; Mangilal Yadav, State President of AITUC; Harendra Singh, State Secretary of CITU; Senior Advocate and Social Activist Prem Krishna Sharma; Upendra Kumar from Jal Dhara Abhiyan; DYFI District Convenor Ritansh Azad; SFI District Secretary Vikram Nehra; and Women’s Leaders Sabiha Parveen and Rubina Abrar addressed the gathering.
The speakers demanded an immediate end to the brutal genocide in Palestine, particularly the atrocities committed by Israeli security forces against women and children. They called on the international community to unite against these human rights violations and strongly criticized the U.S. for providing military support to Israel.
The speakers also urged an end to all military and economic assistance to Israel and demanded that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu be tried for war crimes in the International Court of Justice. They called for his arrest and prosecution.
The speakers also condemned the Modi government for abandoning India’s long-standing foreign policy in favor of supporting the Israeli regime and its leader Netanyahu, despite the genocide being committed against the Palestinian people. The Modi government’s silence on these heinous acts and its tacit support for Israel were strongly condemned.
The protestors also demanded an immediate halt to all military and arms exports to Israel, urging the Indian government to join the international movement for peace and solidarity with Palestine, as it had in the past.
The gathering honored the sacrifices of the Palestinian people in their struggle for their homeland, expressing the solidarity of the Indian people with their cause. On the occasion of the historic Quit India Day, speakers supported the slogans raised by the United Farmers’ Front, calling for “Communal Forces, Quit India” and “Profiteering Corporate Forces, Quit India.” They also called on the BJP-RSS government to fulfill its promises to the farmers.
On this World Tribal Day, speakers demanded an end to the injustices faced by indigenous people, as well as justice for the family of mute and deaf girl Dimple Meena.
The assembly concluded with a speech by Sumitra Chopra, a senior leader of the All India Democratic Women’s Association.
