Massive ‘March for Humanity’ in Sydney Draws Tens of Thousands for Gaza

Sydney — In an overwhelming display of solidarity, tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered on Sunday morning to participate in the March for Humanity, crossing Sydney’s iconic Harbour Bridge to protest against the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reported Gaurdian.
Organized by the Palestine Action Group, the peaceful protest began at Lang Park in central Sydney and concluded at Bradfield Park on the northern side of the bridge. Participants waved Palestinian flags, held placards reading “Save Gaza,” and banged pots and pans—a poignant symbol of the growing famine and starvation impacting the people of Gaza.
According to the New South Wales Police, the estimated attendance stood at around 100,000, while event organizers claimed the number reached up to 300,000, making it one of the largest public demonstrations in recent Australian history. The last major event to close the Harbour Bridge was the 2023 World Pride march, which drew approximately 50,000 participants.
Notable figures seen leading the march included WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and former Australian foreign minister Bob Carr, both holding banners calling for urgent international intervention to halt the crisis in Gaza.
Speaking to media outlets, organizers emphasized that the protest aimed to draw both national and global attention to the famine conditions in Gaza, particularly affecting children. Protesters urged the Australian government and international leaders to pressure Israel to reopen border crossings and allow immediate humanitarian aid.
Since March 2, 2025, Israel has kept all Gaza border crossings sealed, preventing the entry of essential food and medical supplies. Human rights organizations and aid agencies have issued repeated warnings about the deepening famine and worsening living conditions within the besieged territory.
Health authorities in Gaza report that Israel’s military operations, ongoing since October 2023, have led to over 60,430 deaths and more than 148,700 injuries. With international relief efforts hindered by access restrictions, the humanitarian catastrophe continues to escalate.
The March for Humanity served as a loud and unified call for justice, compassion, and immediate global action to alleviate the suffering of civilians in Gaza.
