Massive Pro-Palestinian Protests Held in New York Demanding End to Israeli Attacks on Gaza

New York City witnessed a powerful wave of solidarity with Palestinians on Tuesday, as pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered to demand an immediate end to the Israeli military assault on Gaza, reported the Andolu Ajansi.

Hundreds of protesters, representing various rights groups and civil society organizations, assembled in central New York holding banners that read: “Stop Starving Gaza Now!”, “Feed Gaza’s Babies”, and “Open the Border, End the Blockade.” The demonstrators called for urgent global action to end what they described as a genocidal war on Gaza.

Similar demonstrations took place in other major U.S. cities including Washington, D.C., Chicago, and San Francisco, where protestors urged the Biden administration to halt its support for Israel and called for an end to the years-long blockade that has crippled the Gaza Strip.

The protests come amid intensifying humanitarian concerns. The United Nations on Tuesday condemned what it described as an “unacceptable pattern” of attacks on Palestinians seeking aid in Gaza, despite repeated Israeli claims that civilians would not be targeted.

According to updated figures, Israel has killed more than 59,100 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children, since the start of its military operation in October 2023. The unrelenting assault has devastated Gaza’s infrastructure, collapsed its health care system, and caused widespread famine-like conditions.

In a major legal development last year, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Moreover, Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), making it one of the few countries in modern history to be legally challenged on such severe international charges.

The global protests reflect growing outrage and demand for accountability, as the international community continues to witness the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
