Darbhanga, Bihar: A sea of protestors flooded the streets of Darbhanga, voicing strong opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill recently passed by the Modi government. The demonstrators termed the legislation a “black law” and accused the government of pushing it through under the cover of night, reflecting what they described as an authoritarian move against the country’s Muslim population.

In a passionate appeal, speaking to the Radiance News Bureau, protestor Hammad Naseem from Darbhanga said, “This bill, which the Modi government claims to have introduced for the people, is being outrightly rejected by the very citizens it affects. If the people of the nation do not accept it, then such a law should be withdrawn immediately.”
He also added, “Do not sow the seeds of hatred for the sake of votes. Hindus and Muslims in this country wish to live together in peace and harmony, but the government is using divisive politics to break the unity of the nation.”
The protest in Darbhanga is part of a growing wave of dissent across the country, where Muslim communities and civil society groups are raising their voices against the controversial amendments to the Waqf Act.
