New Delhi: The book, Kasb-e-Maash Ka Islami Tasawwur (Islamic Concept of Livelihood) by Maulana Muhammad Anas Falahi Madani was released at the Indian Center for Islamic Finance (ICIF), here Saturday. The book was published with the collaboration and financial support of Indian Center for Islamic Finance and Rafah Chambers of Commerce along with the coordination of Tasneefi Academy.
The author, while introducing the book, said, “There are two attitudes towards wealth and wealth in Muslim society. One is based on inflation, the other on extravagance. There are some people who do not follow certain limits and manners in the matter of earning wealth. Wherever wealth is obtained and whatever they find, they don’t care whether the means adopted is halal or haram. They are only driven by the desire to accumulate more wealth.”
“In Islam, wealth is considered an important necessity of life. Islam wants a person to earn as much as he wants, but it is necessary that he should adopt only legitimate means and respect the limits set by Allah,” he added.
Dr. Razi-ul-Islam Nadvi, National Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, said, “I am glad that this moderate view of Islam is highlighted in detail in the book. This book consists of 6 chapters: the first chapter describes the reality of worldly life in the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah. The second chapter highlights motivational aspects of earning a living mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith. The third chapter discusses legitimate and illegitimate sources of earning. The fourth chapter highlights the bright aspects of the Prophet’s economic life. The fifth chapter discusses how to earn money and where to spend. The sixth chapter presents the effects and consequences of Islamic and non-Islamic conceptions of acquiring wealth.”
He added, “It is hoped that it will be well received in the academic and religious circles and many misunderstandings will be cleared through it.”
Professor Mohsin Usmani Nadvi highlighted the Islamic principles of earning through various examples from the Quran and Hadith and lauded the role of the author for his work.
In his presidential remarks, Professor Jawed Ahmad Khan, Chairman of ICIF, said, “There are a plenty of books available in terms of spending but very few aimed at wealth creation and wealth generation. Young students and researchers should be encouraged to take up research work in accordance to situational demands to keep pace with the fast-changing economic activities where focus is on wealth creation and investment. H. Abdur Raqeeb, General Secretary of ICIF, while delivering vote of thanks, emphasized financial literacy with special mention of women.
