Maulana Arshad Madani Urges Caution and Respect During Eid al-Adha Observances

New Delhi, June 14: Emphasizing the religious significance of animal sacrifice during Eid al-Adha, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind president Maulana Arshad Madani has called on Muslims to adhere strictly to ethical and governmental guidelines. He highlighted the importance of avoiding the sacrifice of prohibited animals and refraining from sharing images or videos of the slaughter on social media.

In a recent statement, Maulana Madani advised the Muslim community to avoid sacrificing animals banned by the government, such as cows and oxen. “Given the current circumstances, it is crucial for Muslims to exercise caution. Avoid publicizing sacrifices, particularly through social media,” he said.

Maulana Madani stressed the importance of following government guidelines to prevent any communal discord. He suggested that if individuals encounter resistance to the sacrifice of permitted animals, they should involve sensible and influential community members to engage with the authorities and proceed accordingly.

In cases where sacrifices of permitted animals are not feasible, Maulana Madani recommended performing the sacrifice in an alternative location free from restrictions. He added that in regions with historical precedence of animal sacrifice but facing new challenges, offering at least a goat and registering the act with the authorities can help avert future issues.

He also urged Muslims to prioritize cleanliness during Eid al-Adha. “Animal waste should not be discarded on roads, streets, or drains. It should be buried properly to prevent any unpleasant odors,” he advised.

Maulana Madani concluded by calling for patience and respect. “Every effort should be made to ensure that our actions do not harm others. Any provocations by sectarian elements should be calmly reported to the local police,” he said.

This appeal aims to foster harmony and uphold the sanctity of religious practices while respecting the broader community’s sentiments.
