Jodhpur: The Boranada police have arrested Maulana Azad University Chairperson Mohammad Atiq Gauri, retired RAS officer and university registrar Anwar Ali, along with Nisar Ahmed Khilji, in connection with an alleged 140-bigha land scam in Bujhawad village.
According to officials, the accused are alleged to have illegally transferred 140 bighas of land, originally allotted free of cost by the state government to the Marwar Muslim Education and Welfare Society, to Maulana Azad University through fraudulent means and forged documents.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Nishant Bhardwaj stated that the case was initially filed on April 9 by Kamala Nehru Nagar resident Abdul Nazim Belim at Boranada police station. Following an inquiry, the police arrested Mohammad Atiq Gauri, a resident of Merti Gate, along with Anwar Ali and Nisar Ahmed Khilji, both residing in the Nandanvan Scheme area of Chauhabo.
Atiq Gauri, formerly the vice president of the Muslim Education Society, currently serves as the chairperson of Maulana Abul Kalam University. Retired RAS officer Anwar Ali holds the position of registrar in the society, while Nisar Ahmed Khilji previously served as its general secretary.
Initially, the police had filed a closure report (FR) in the case. However, upon reinvestigation by ACP Boranada, the allegations were found to be valid, leading to the arrests.
The case continues to unfold as authorities probe further into the alleged land scam.
