During a meeting convened by Jamiat Ulama Assam, the state leader Maulana Badruddin Ajmal spoke on the current dispute regarding Waqf properties, alleging that the government is hindering the legitimate restoration of these lands. Ajmal, a notable political figure, asserted that approximately 9.7 lakh acres of government land in India are, in fact, Waqf properties and ought to be returned to the Waqf Boards.
Ajmal said these lands, which originally belonged to their ancestors who contributed it to the Waqf Boards, should be returned to the Waqf Boards. He expressed opposition to the establishment of medical colleges, orphanages, or educational institutions on these lands. He emphasized that these lands hold profound historical and religious importance and should be preserved under the management of Waqf Boards.
Ajmal expressed strong disapproval of the current BJP administration, claiming that it has hindered efforts to reclaim Waqf properties. He asserted that significant sites, such as Ambani’s residence in Mumbai and the Parliament building in New Delhi, are situated on Waqf lands and ought to be returned to their legitimate proprietors.
