Lucknow : Maulana Ishtiaq Lari Nadwi, son of the late Maulana Mohibullah Lari — former rector of Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama — passed away on Friday evening at the age of 84. He had been unwell for a long time and was recently admitted to a hospital in the city. After doctors declared his condition untreatable, he was brought back home, where he breathed his last.
His funeral prayer was held today after Zuhr and he will be laid to rest at Takiya Tarin Shah. He is survived by two sons and one daughter. His wife had predeceased him.
Maulana Ishtiaq Lari was the former Ameer-e-Muqami (local leader) of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Lucknow. He also served as a lecturer for several years at Faiz Aam Inter College in Kanpur.
Dr. Malik Faisal Falahi, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind for the Eastern UP region, expressed deep sorrow at his passing. He remembered Maulana Lari as a noble, honest, and hardworking personality who was always considerate towards younger generations. He was a lover of knowledge, a friend to many, and deeply attached to Urdu literature. Dr. Falahi highlighted his long and dedicated association with the Islamic movement and offered prayers for his forgiveness, also extending condolences and prayers of patience to the bereaved family.
Maulana Noor Azeem Nadwi also expressed grief, describing the late Maulana as a principled and trustworthy figure. “His demise is a great loss,” he added, while also praying for his forgiveness and strength for his family in this time of sorrow.
