Maulana Sajjad Nomani asks Muslim organizations to ‘condemn’ Saudi Arabia for its ‘questionable’ role in Gaza conflict

Nov. 4, 2023:
Renowned Islamic Scholar Maulana Sajjad Nomani has written an open letter addressing the heads of prominent Muslim organizations. The letter targets the government of Saudi Arabia in the context of the present conflict in Gaza. Maulana Nomani laments that on the one hand, the entire Muslim Ummah is extremely anxious regarding the situation in Palestine, and on the other hand, Saudi Arabia is busy organizing song and dance programs with rampant nudity and vulgarity.
Maulana Nomani posed the question to Muslim organizations, “So what is your opinion about this situation? And wouldn’t it be appropriate for all of you to strongly condemn this denial and disrespect (of the Palestinian cause by the government of Saudi Arabia)? It would be fitting for a delegation, comprising of the heads of Muslim organizations of India to convey a robust protest message to the Saudi rulers through the Saudi embassy. This would be in reverence for the sacred land of Palestine and in memory of around 10,000 martyrs who have laid down their lives in its defense, among them more than 3,000 innocent children, as well as a significant number of our sisters and daughters. I kindly request your prompt response and urge you to take practical steps as soon as possible.”

Some of the prominent figures Maulana Nomani has listed in his open letter include Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, Maulana Arshad Madani, Maulana Khalid Saif-Ullah Rahmani, Maulana Asghar Imam Mahdi, Maulana Mahmood Madani, Zia Uddin Siddiqui, Dr. Manzoor Alam, Maulana Syed Ahmed Bukhari and Syed Sadatullah Husaini.
