New Delhi: MP Mian Altaf Ahmad raised concerns in Parliament over gaps in electricity supply and mobile connectivity in tribal and remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir. He called on the minister present in the House to address long pending issues that affect daily life and livelihoods.
He said several tribal regions across the country still lack electricity and mobile towers. He added that solar lighting projects remain unavailable in many localities. He focused on Jammu and Kashmir and urged the minister to take direct notice of the situation.
Mian Altaf highlighted the problems faced by people who move with their livestock to high altitude areas. He said these communities do not receive mobile network coverage and lack solar lighting support. He stressed that the absence of these services affects safety and communication for families living or working in upper reaches.
He asked whether the government has any plan to deliver electricity to households that continue to remain off the grid. He pressed for a clear timeline for extending power supply to these areas. He reminded the minister that residents expect timely action.
Mian Altaf said the issues of mobile towers, solar lights and electricity should be addressed without delay. He closed his remarks with a request for urgent intervention from the concerned ministry.
