Minority Leaders Urge Telangana CM to Release Pending Scholarships

Prominent Muslim scholars and community leaders have urged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to release pending Post-Matric Scholarships under the Reimbursement of Tuition Fee (RTF) scheme. They warned that the delay is causing severe academic and financial hardship for minority students.
In a joint open letter, religious figures such as Moulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani (AIMPLB), Moulana Shah Jamal ur Rahman Miftahi (Millat-e-Islamia), Mufti Sadiq Mohiuddin Faheem Nizami (United Muslim Forum), Mufti Ghiyasuddin Rahmani (Jamiat ul Ulama), Dr. M. Khalid Mubashir uz Zafar (Jamat-e-Islami Hind), SQ Masood (ASEEM), and Mohd Faraz Ahmed (SIO), along with leaders of major Muslim organisations, expressed concern over the prolonged non-disbursement.
The letter was submitted to the Chief Minister, the Minister for Minority Welfare, the Principal Secretary (Finance), and the Secretary (Minority Welfare Department). It highlighted that thousands of students have fallen into debt, faced study disruptions, and in some cases, dropped out due to the lack of funds.
The leaders placed three main demands. First, immediate clearance of all pending scholarship payments. Second, introduction of a time-bound and transparent disbursement system. Third, creation of an emergency fund to address the backlog.
They stressed that scholarships are essential for educational continuity and future employability of economically disadvantaged youth. Calling it a “serious threat to educational equity,” they urged the state to act urgently, warning that further delay could have lasting effects on the lives and careers of thousands of students in Telangana.
