Mirza Ghalib’s birth anniversary celebrated at Madrasa Jamia Taiba Memorial School

Jaipur, Dec. 28. The birth anniversary of famous Urdu-Persian poet Mirza Ghalib was celebrated at Madrasa Jamia Taiba Memorial School in Nahari Ka Naka Shastri Nagar here Wednesday.

On this occasion, Madrasa student Asma Bano talked about the life of Mirza Ghalib. Asma said that Ghalib was born on 27 December 1797. His real name was Mirza Asadullah Beg Khan. A great poet of Urdu and Persian languages, Ghalib is considered the greatest Urdu poet of all time. He received the titles of Dabir-ul-Mulk and Nazm-ud-Daula. Ghalib was also the court poet of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last ruler of the Mughal era. Ghalib, who lived his life in Agra, Delhi and Calcutta (now Kolkata), is mainly remembered for his Urdu ghazals.

Director of Madrasa Jamia Qari Mohammad Ishaq said there are crores of people worldwide who are lovers of his poetry. Ghalib was born in a family with a military background. His uncle was a military officer in the British East India Company. Ghalib’s background was from a Turkish family and his grandfather came to India from Samarkand in Central Asia around 1750.

He added that Ghalib was very fond of mangoes. He had relations with the big rulers and freedom fighters of that time. He also wrote patriotic songs and poetry very well and used to present them at gatherings. Even today the world is fond of his poetry and the books written by him.

He further said we aim to spread among the children the love of our great men and their biographies from time to time. That is why the birth anniversaries of all the great men are celebrated from time to time in Madrasa Jamia Taiba.

On this occasion, children also recited poetry and ghazals of Mirza Ghalib, which was encouraged by the audience.
