Miscreants Attack Madrasa, Mosque in Telangana’s Sangareddy District

Hyderabad: The attack on a madrasa, a mosque and a dargah in Telangana’s Sangareddy district has evoked strong condemnation from the Muslim community.

The miscreants targeted Madrasa Taleem-ul-Quran, a mosque located in its premises and a nearby dargah at Islampur in Jinnaram block of the district on Tuesday.

Large numbers of communal elements raising religious slogans barged into the madrasa and mosque and ransacked them. They also set afire the dargah. The Madrasa Committee lodged a complaint with the police and demanded immediate action.

Police force was deployed at Islampur, where the situation remained tense on Wednesday. Muslims staged a protest, demanding action against the culprits.

The students of madrasa were illegally detained by some miscreants on Monday evening, accusing them of damaging an idol in a temple. Minor students were assaulted and detained throughout the night. The next day, a mob attacked the madrasa, mosque and dargah.

Muslim organisations have condemned the attack and demanded the government to take stringent action against the communal elements who have been targeting Muslims in the district.

AIMIM MLA Kausar Mohiuddin along with local Muslim leaders met Sangareddy SP Paritosh Pankaj and demanded action against miscreants involved in the attack.

Congress minority leaders led by Faheem Qureshi, president and vice chairman of Telangana Minority Residential Educational Institutions Society met DGP Jitender to demand immediate action against those involved in the attack.

Condemning the attacks, Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) said that once again, peace of Sangareddy district has been disrupted by a hateful and orchestrated act of violence, this time targeting Madrasa Taleem-ul-Quran and Dargah Hazrat Gharib Shah Wali in Jinnaram village. This is not the first such incident in the district, raising serious questions about the government’s intent and the commitment of law enforcement to uphold justice.

The targeted assault on innocent madrasa students, followed by vandalism and provocative sloganeering by miscreants, reflects a deeply polarised and corrupt mindset that is left unchecked. While the late police intervention and protection provided to students is acknowledged, the question remains – where is justice? Why have the culprits not been arrested yet? These damage control techniques, which are performed post-violence, are not sufficient to sustain law and order.

Such repeated incidents not only further damage the social fabric but also instil fear in society. SIO strongly condemned this attack and demanded immediate, transparent, and strict action against all those involved. “We urge the state government and law enforcement to address the growing polarisation against Muslims, ensure justice for the students, and safeguard the rights of every citizen.”

Maulana Jaffar Pasha Husami questioned the government over its inaction against the communal elements. He asked if Muslims made a mistake by bringing Congress to power. He warned that if such incidents continue, people may lose their trust in the Congress government.

MBT leader Amjedullah Khan Khalid said police stopped him from visiting Sangareddy district. Condemning the attacks, he said the police have not made any arrests so far.
