Mohammed Azharuddin appointed President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Telangana

Hyderabad: The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Syed Sadatullah Husaini, has appointed Mohammed Azharuddin as the new Ameer-e-Halqa, or State President, of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Telangana. He will continue the four year current tenure, which runs through March 2027.

Azharuddin brings deep experience to this role, having served as President of the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO) in Hyderabad City and State President of SIO for united Andhra Pradesh during 1991-1993. He also held key positions within the Jamaat, including Ameer-e-Maqami (Local President) for Hyderabad (South) between 2003 and 2007, and Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, undivided Andhra Pradesh.

Since Telangana came into being, he served as Muavin Ameer-e-Halqa, or Vice President, for the state. His long service spans student mobilisation, local leadership, and administrative roles.

Observers note his appointment brings continuity and experience to the organisation’s work in Telangana. His appointment was triggered by the resignation of former JIH Telangana President, Khalid Mubashshir uz Zafar.
