Palestinian medics and rescue teams recovered seven more bodies from the rubble in the Gaza Strip, pushing the overall death toll from Israel’s genocidal war since October 2023 to 48,189, the Health Ministry said on Sunday, reports Anadolu Agency.
A ministry statement said that the toll also included one Palestinian who was killed by Israeli fire.
According to the ministry, two injured people were also admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the number of the injured to 111,640 in the Israeli onslaught.
“Many victims are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” the ministry said.
On 4 February, US President Donald Trump said Washington would “take over” Gaza and resettle Palestinians elsewhere under an extraordinary redevelopment plan that he claimed could turn the enclave into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
His proposal was met with wide condemnations from the Palestinians, Arab countries, and many other nations across the world, including Canada, France, Germany, and the UK.
