MP: SP Transferred for Filing FIR Against BJP Leaders in Guna Violence Case

Guna (Madhya Pradesh)– In the aftermath of communal violence that broke out during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in Guna, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Jitendra Singh Sinha has been transferred after police registered an FIR against BJP leaders involved in the unrest, reported the Roznamakhabrein.
According to reports, clashes erupted near a mosque during a religious procession. Police had earlier lodged FIRs against both groups, but later registered a specific FIR naming BJP councillor Om Prakash Kushwaha alias “Gabbar” for allegedly making provocative remarks in front of the mosque. The FIR accused him of leading the procession, chanting inflammatory slogans, and being involved in stone pelting.
This move to file a case against BJP leaders sparked speculation about possible action against the SP. On Sunday evening, SP Jitendra Sinha was removed from his post and attached to the Bhopal headquarters. IPS officer Ankit Soni has been appointed as the new SP of Guna.
Congress alleged that the SP was transferred as a direct consequence of his action against the BJP leaders.
The FIR, based on a report by Sub-Inspector Mahesh Lakra from Kotwali Police Station, stated that a Hanuman Jayanti procession began from Kolhu Pura and passed through Colonel Ganj, eventually reaching the Madina Mosque where public order was allegedly disturbed.
The Indian Express reported that around 4 PM on April 12, police received information about a procession near the mosque. Officers, including SI Mahesh Lakra and SI Toran Singh, reached the site and found BJP leaders Om Prakash Kushwaha, Mono Ojha, Vishal Anutiya, and Sanjay alias Baga Raghuvanshi leading the procession.
When asked if they had official permission to conduct the rally with DJs and a crowd, the group reportedly responded defiantly. The procession stopped in front of the mosque, where loud DJ music and provocative slogans targeting a particular community were played.
So far, police have registered cases under charges including attempt to murder, rioting, and vandalism. Nine people have been arrested in connection with the violence.
The incident has sparked political debate, with opposition parties accusing the ruling BJP of suppressing law enforcement officials who take impartial action.
