Muslim athletes help India win gold in men’s 4x400m relay in Asian Games 2023

5 October 2023: Muhammed Anas Yahiya and Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi helped India win the gold medal in the men’s 4x400m relay at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou Wednesday.

The two Muslim youth from Kerala along with Amoj Jacob and Rajesh Ramesh finished with a gold-winning time of 3:01.58. India qualified for the finals by finishing with the fastest time of 3:03.81 minutes in heat1 ahead of Qatar, Japan and Iraq.

Earlier, Anas and Ajmal had made their community and country proud by a wholesome contribution to their team’s successful entry into the final of the 4×400 meter relay at the World Athletic Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Ajmal transitioned from the football pitch to the track while Anas was a long jump athlete. Both athletes have proved that with resilience, support, and an unshakable spirit, one can overcome obstacles and become victorious on the international stage.
