Muslim Board Partly Satisfied with SC’s Interim Ruling on Waqf Law

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim ruling on the Waqf (Amended) Act 2025 with partial satisfaction.
The Board, representing Indian Muslims, has filed a petition asking the court to declare the new Waqf law unconstitutional.
It is leading the protest against the law, calling it a “black law.”
Board President Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani said all amendments were controversial and aimed at grabbing Waqf properties.
He said the SC has, in its interim order, barred any interference in Waqf land—registered or not, notified or used for Waqf.
He noted that without this stay, encroachers could have taken over Waqf-by-user properties before the verdict.
He added that the court also stopped the government from appointing members to the Central Waqf Council and State Waqf Boards.
Though temporary, this order blocks the government’s attempts to misuse power in these institutions.
He said the Ummah’s collective struggle led to this positive outcome.
While appreciating the relief, Rahmani hoped the SC would scrap all the harmful amendments and restore the original law.
He said the Board’s protest will continue until all controversial changes are withdrawn.
He called on justice-loving citizens, national bodies, and the public to support the movement with unity and strength.
