Tonk, Aug 22: On Tuesday, members of the Muslim community here, under the banner of Awam-e-Tonk organization, submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister through the District Collector. The memorandum called for the immediate arrest of Baba Ramgiri Maharaj, who allegedly insulted Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in a recent sermon.
Advocate Kashif Zubairi highlighted that the objectionable remarks made by Ramgiri Maharaj in Nashik, Maharashtra, sparked widespread outrage among Muslims and secular groups across India. Despite FIRs lodged in Maharashtra regarding the offensive statements, the police have yet to arrest Ramgiri Maharaj, a delay that has raised concerns about the message it sends to society.
In response, hundreds of prominent citizens from Tonk city urged the Home Minister to take strict legal action against those inciting unrest. They also demanded immediate arrest of Ramgiri Maharaj and called for the demolition of the location where the inflammatory speech was delivered. The community believes that such decisive action is necessary to protect peace and safeguard the fundamental rights of law-abiding citizens.
