Muslim Community Demands Immediate Arrest of Ramgiri Maharaj for Offensive Remarks

– Raheem Khan

Jaisalmer, Aug 30: The controversy surrounding objectionable remarks made by Ramgiri Maharaj in Nasik, Maharashtra, concerning Islam has intensified, with growing demands for his arrest across the country.

In Jaisalmer, the Muslim community, led by Muslim Mahasabha President Mathar Fakir, organized a procession from Hanuman Chauraha to the Collectorate, where they submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India. The memorandum, handed over to District Collector Pratap Singh Nathawat, strongly condemned Ramgiri Maharaj’s statements and urged swift legal action, including his immediate arrest.

The memorandum highlighted that Ramgiri Maharaj’s remarks have deeply hurt the sentiments of Muslims nationwide and pose a threat to communal harmony. It was noted that while an FIR has reportedly been lodged against Maharaj, no arrest has been made thus far. The memorandum insisted on prompt action to prevent further inflammatory statements that could disturb the peace.

During a media interaction, Mathar Fakir emphasized the community’s commitment to peaceful protest but warned that a failure to arrest Maharaj could lead to more intense forms of protest, including a hunger strike. He reiterated the importance of swift action to preserve the country’s unity and harmony.

The Muslim community of Jaisalmer remains hopeful that their demands will be met, ensuring justice and preventing any further escalation of tensions.
