Mumbai: A Muslim delegation recently met with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Union Minister Sharad Pawar, urging him to take immediate action for reopening the Civil Services coaching classes at the Hajj House, which have been shut down for some time. These coaching classes, which aim to prepare Muslim students for competitive exams like the IAS and IPS, were launched in 2010 but have remained non-operational recently.
The delegation expressed concern that Muslim students are being deprived of an essential facility that helps them prepare for prestigious government services. They highlighted that the coaching classes had been instrumental in guiding students from economically weaker sections towards success in competitive exams. Reopening these classes would once again provide students with an opportunity to compete on equal footing with their peers.
The delegation informed Pawar about their meeting with Minority Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju, who had expressed his support for reopening the center. They requested Pawar to personally intervene and communicate with the authorities to ensure this educational facility is revived.
Pawar listened to their concerns and assured the delegation that he would speak to the concerned officials in both the state and central governments. He acknowledged the importance of such initiatives in empowering the Muslim youth and promised to raise the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming meetings.
The coaching classes, which were held at the Hajj House, not only provided civil services training but also helped students in preparing for various other competitive exams, including banking and state-level exams. The closure of these classes has been a source of concern for the community.
The delegation thanked Pawar for his time and commitment, hoping that their efforts would soon bear fruit and that students would once again have access to high-quality training for civil services at the Hajj House.
