Sikar, March 25: The Muslim Forum Sikar submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the District Collector on Monday in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
The memorandum states that the notification of the CAA issued by the Union Government on March 11, 2024, discriminates on religious grounds, which is against the Indian Constitution and traditions. It further states that this amendment is a direct attack on the spirit of the Constitution.
The memorandum demands that the citizenship law should be just and equal for all people of all religions, sects, and castes who want to acquire citizenship of the country and for all those who come from abroad and settle down here.
The memorandum was submitted by a delegation of Muslim Forum Sikar, including representatives from Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Jamiat Ahle Hadees, Convener Engineer Khurshid Hussain, members of the forum, and prominent citizens of the city Saeed Ahmed Qureshi, Shahabuddin Gauri, Amiruddin Tagala, Naseeruddin Advocate, Shakeel Sultania, Mohammad Arif, Nizamuddin Jattu, Usman Gani, and Qasim Khilji.
Engineer Khurshid Hussain said the CAA discriminates on religious grounds. It is against the basic spirit of the Constitution. Citizenship should be equal for all.
