Muslim Man Burned to Death in Gujarat Car Fire, Family Alleges Cow Vigilante Involvement

In a disturbing incident in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district, a 32-year-old Muslim man, Mohammed Bhura Habibullah, was burned to death inside a car under suspicious circumstances. The victim’s family has alleged that he was targeted and killed by cow vigilantes, reported the Maktoob Media.
Hailing from Mirzapur, Ahmedabad, Mohammed Bhura had reportedly left home on the night of April 20, around 10 PM, with his associate Syed Mohammed Rafiq, 26, to transport goods. By the next morning, Mohammed Bhura’s charred remains were found inside a burned hatchback near the Narmada Canal in the Santej area. Rafiq, critically injured, is currently being treated in the ICU at Sola Civil Hospital.
The victim’s family claimed they had received threats from Bajrang Dal members in the days leading up to the incident. Despite this, Santej police have downplayed the possibility of foul play, initially labeling the incident a road accident. Inspector S.R. Muchhal stated, “Preliminary findings suggest the vehicle lost control and caught fire after hitting an object. Both men were trapped inside.”
However, community leaders and civil rights activists have raised serious concerns. Aslam Sheik, AIMIM’s Ahmedabad spokesperson, questioned the state’s alleged apathy: “In the so-called Gujarat Model, Muslim blood has been rendered cheaper than water. Even if meat was found, whether beef or otherwise, there are courts to decide, not mobs.”
The case has ignited widespread outrage, with many demanding a thorough and impartial investigation. Forensic reports are awaited to determine the exact cause of the fire and whether vigilante violence played a role.
