Muslim Woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi Alleges Forced Conversion, Sexual Exploitation, and Blackmail

Bhadohi (UP): A serious case involving allegations of forced religious conversion, sexual exploitation, blackmail, extortion, and humiliation has come to light in Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh. A 35-year-old Muslim woman has lodged a complaint against Nitish Chaubey, a resident of Jayarampur under Aurai Police Station, accusing him of multiple crimes, reported the PTI.
According to a senior police official, the woman filed her complaint at the Mahila Police Station on Thursday. Based on her statement, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.
The charges include: Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty),Section 75(1) (sexual harassment),Section 78 (stalking),Section 61(2) (party to a criminal conspiracy),Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation),Section 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace),Section 356(2) (defamation),and relevant provisions under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act.
Police officials stated that the matter is under investigation and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
