Muslim Youth Brutally Assaulted by Hindutva Mob in UP’s Kasganj Over Suspicion of Carrying Banned Meat

Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh – A Muslim youngster, identified as Hasnain, was brutally attacked by a mob allegedly comprising members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal in Kasganj district on Sunday. The incident has sparked fear among local Muslims and renewed concerns over rising mob violence targeting the community, reported the News laundary.
Hasnain, a resident of Chamunda Gate, was accused by the mob of carrying banned meat near Mallah Nagar village. According to locals and eyewitnesses, there was no official confirmation from the police or any authority before the assault. The mob reportedly surrounded him, raised religious slogans, hurled verbal abuse, and physically beat him in the middle of the street.
A disturbing video of the incident, now viral on social media, shows multiple men kicking and punching the victim as he lay on the ground, unable to defend himself.
Police arrived after receiving information and rescued Hasnain. Shockingly, instead of immediately focusing on the attackers, the police detained the injured victim for interrogation and briefly held him in custody. The meat allegedly found with him has been sent for laboratory testing.
Following the attack, police registered an FIR against two named and six unidentified members of Bajrang Dal. This move triggered outrage among the accused’s supporters, who staged a protest at the police station, demanding the withdrawal of the FIR and protection for the named individuals.
Activists and minority rights groups have strongly condemned the incident and criticised the police for questioning the victim instead of ensuring justice. They accused Hindutva groups of taking the law into their own hands without facing consequences.
Police have stated that the investigation will be conducted from all angles. However, community members and activists allege that such cases are often ignored, and perpetrators frequently escape punishment.
