Muzaffarnagar: A 24-year-old Muslim youth, Muntalib, was beaten to death in Kulheri village under Charthawal police station on Monday night, triggering outrage and fear in the local community.
Police said Muntalib was called to a local grocery shop by Sahman, a villager with whom he had a previous dispute over a bike accident. When Muntalib arrived, Sahman and his associate Sajid allegedly attacked him. He collapsed during the assault and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
According to SP City Satyanarayan Prajapat, a police team led by CO Sadar immediately inspected the scene after receiving information. “We are taking strict legal action under relevant IPC sections. A dedicated team has been formed to arrest all accused. Protecting residents, especially vulnerable groups, is our priority,” he said.
The victim’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, and police have launched raids to trace the suspects. Local leaders said the incident has left Muslim residents anxious about their safety. “This is not only about one family. It shows how quickly old disputes turn into deadly violence,” said a community member.
The killing has renewed demands for stronger measures to prevent targeted violence and ensure accountability in cases involving minority victims. Residents have urged the administration to ensure justice and restore confidence among the local Muslim population.
