Naser Husain re-elected for Rajya Sabha

Bengaluru, Feb. 28: In the elections held for Rajya Sabha here Tuesday, Dr. Syed Naser Husain got elected from Karnataka for the second term.

A Ph.D. holder in political science from Jawaharlal University, Naser Husain served as president of students union of the university. A native of Bellary, Dr Husain taught political science at Government College, Devdurga in Raichur district before joining mainstream politics.

He was also national spokesperson of the Congress party earlier. During UPA’s two terms, from 2004 -2014, Dr. Husain served as Vice Chairman of the advisory committees of two important labor boards in the Government of India.

Dr. Husain is a member of KPCC. He was also part of the 2018 Election Manifesto Committee.

After the retirement of Dr. K Rahman Khan in 2014, Dr. Husain is the only Muslim member of the Upper House from Karnataka. Dr. Khan was elected four times to the Rajya Sabha.
