National Career Trainers Workshop at Jamia Millia Islamia Strengthens Career Guidance Framework

New Delhi: A three day National Career Trainers Training Workshop concluded at Jamia Millia Islamia with a focus on strengthening ethical and inclusive career guidance across educational institutions. The programme brought together educators, counsellors, and trainers from across India to improve professional skills and structured approaches to student guidance.

Held from January 31 to February 2 at FTK CIT and the Department of Educational Studies, the workshop was organised by the Centre for Training and Academic Guidance under the Human Welfare Foundation in collaboration with Jamia’s Faculty of Education. Fifty five selected trainees from ten states took part in the national level programme, reflecting growing demand for trained career guidance professionals.

In the inaugural session, Dr Aejaz Masih, Head of the Department of Educational Studies, stressed academic responsibility in counselling. He said trained guidance professionals play a decisive role in shaping student pathways and aligning aspirations with changing education and employment realities. Mr M Sajid, General Secretary of the Human Welfare Foundation, explained the objectives of the workshop and highlighted the need for value based and culturally aware counselling practices. Mr Sharique Ansar, Manager of the Education Department at HWF, shared CTAG’s ongoing initiatives and expansion plans. Dr Sameer Babu M spoke on capacity building for educators in a competitive academic environment. Dr Ali Haider delivered the vote of thanks.

Expert sessions during the workshop addressed ethical frameworks and field level challenges. Dr Habeebul Rahiman discussed emerging trends in career counselling. Dr Quazi Firdous Islam focused on empathy, cultural sensitivity, and observation as core counselling skills. Dr Asjad Usmani spoke on professional conduct and personal discipline drawn from practical experience.

The second day emphasised applied skills. Dr Rubina Nusrat led a session on communication in counselling settings. Counselling psychologist Dr Khizra Shibli engaged participants through role play and case analysis based on real situations. Mr Faizy Rahman from CTAG introduced psychometric tools and digital platforms used in career assessment.

On the final day, Dr Arshad Ikram Ahmad spoke on linking classroom learning with career guidance systems. Mr Layeeq Ahmed Khan addressed motivation, self belief, and goal setting. Dr Sultana Parveen guided participants on setting up institutional career cells and improving student access to reliable career information.

At the valedictory session, Mr Noufal PK, CEO of the Human Welfare Foundation, praised the commitment of participants. Certificates were distributed to all trainees. Dr Sajjad Ahmad attended as Guest of Honour, and Dr Aejaz Masih formally declared the workshop closed. Organisers said the programme strengthened a national network of trained professionals dedicated to informed career guidance.
